Europe Jazz Network´s General Assembly 2013 is arranged in Trondheim. On that occasion we´ll also be organizing a showcase consisting of national artists with a geographic range spanning just about the length of Norway, and an equally wide range of genres.

Together the artists represent the whole spectrum of norwegian quality jazz, and they all exibit international appeal.

HEDVIG MOLLESTAD TRIO

Soulful and expressive, intense and mystic, award-winning and extravagantly praised for records and live shows. Hedvig Mollestad has been going nowhere but up since their debut Shoot! on Rune Grammofon. The sequel All of them witches, is the proof that the instrumental trio is worthy of all their praise. This is powerful music with a piercing presence that stir up grand feelings.

CORTEX

Cortex is a Norwegian band playing energy jazz of the finest blend. With over fifty live shows and two studio albums they´ve made their mark as one of the most pronounced additions to the Norwegian jazz scene.

After touring Norway, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy and Japan, Cortex released their second album, ‘Göteborg’, in October 2012 on Gigafon Records, to critical acclaim.

VIGLEIK STORÅS TRIO

Vigleik Storås Trio has existed since 1993. Of a total of 5 recordings, two of them has won the Norwegian Grammy, Spellemannsprisen. Their last release ‘Epistel #5’, that came out in October 2012, has gotten rave reviews. The trio consist of some of Norways most eloquent jazz musicians, and can be trusted to make an impression. A fact that the biggest jazz festivals and jazz clubs in Norway can attest to.

TRONDHEIM JAZZORKESTER OG MARIUS NESET

Marius Neset, has in the recent years earned his rank as one of the most talented saxophonists in Europe. His two records, Golden Explosion (2011) & Birds (2013) have gotten fantastic reviews in prestigious media like BBC, Guardian and The Independent.
During Moldejazz 2012 he presented his commissioned work written for Trondheim Jazzorkesterand the consert was a great success. The national newspaper Dagsavisens called the concert ‘one of the highlights in the history of Moldejazz.’

Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is one of Norway´s most prominent big jazz ensembles, and has collaborated with international and national artists like Chick Corea, Joshua Redman, Motorpsycho and  Stian Westerhus.
