Om utgivelsen
Welcome to the world of Vinterhagen — a musical landscape where songs take root, sounds expand, and ideas branch into a rich ecosystem of improvisation and exploration. This newly formed jazz trio features Liv Andrea Hauge on piano, Fredrik Luhr Dietrichson on double bass, and Andreas Skår Winther on drums—three of Norway’s most active and accomplished jazz musicians.
Luhr is known for his work with Moskus, Winther from Kjetil Mulelid Trio and Selma French, while Hauge has made her mark with Kongle Trio, as well as her own acclaimed trio (featuring Georgia Wartel Collins on bass and August Glännestrand on drums). Their musical paths first crossed in the spring three years ago, and they reconnected in the summer of 2022 when they played together in Hauge’s ensemble — quickly discovering a natural chemistry. That connection inspired them to form a piano trio, a format they each hold dear.
Vinterhagen is a band driven by musical curiosity—where strong compositions, melodious ballads, and groove-heavy, riff-based pieces create space for boundless improvisation. Their sound is both contemplative and mercurial, shifting between dreamy abstraction, driving rhythms, moody atmospheres, and moments of playful unpredictability.
In the fall of 2022, the trio entered Ugla Lyd studio with Morten Qvenild to record their debut album, capturing their organic interplay and dynamic energy. Jazzland signed the band in spring 2024, leading to the album’s launch that November. The physical CD releases in spring 2025.
With Vinterhagen, Hauge, Luhr, and Winther have cultivated a space where music breathes, evolves, and invites the listener into an ever-expanding sonic journey.
