After 10 years as a band and hundreds of concerts, I LIKE TO SLEEP is releasing their fifth album! Once again on their beloved Trondheim-based label, All Good Clean Records.
Following the successful formula of working with studio wizard Kyrre Laastad at Øra Studio in Trondheim — and topping it off with a killer master by Karl Klaseie at Øra Mastering — this might be their most efficient recording and release process to date: recording the album and holding the vinyl in their hands all within the same year!
The album spans a wide range of new sounds and techniques, featuring their dear friend and living legend Mats Gustafsson on saxophone and flute, along with some rattling, sinister samples and recordings of the ad hoc string quintet Swamp Strings — all of which suit the band’s growing love for the Mellotron.
Spectral Vibes is very much a celebratory collage of both unused and fresh ideas, gathered over the past few years while writing and touring their commissioned piece «Pieces of Scattered Dreams» for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra — also set for release sometime in the near future!
