Propan
Shrew

Om utgivelsen

The word shrew refers to a woman who is perceived as quarrelsome, fussy and hot-tempered, an old-fashioned and sexist term that also describes a woman who breaks traditional submissive gender roles. It is also slang for witch. ‘Shrew’ is the soundtrack to these women, to their gathering – a party for those who move in the shadows.

Since their inception in 2011, Propan has developed a focused and seamless musical interaction where they research the different roles and possibilities of the voice. Through continuous work, the duo has gained weight within their field and has surprised both audiences and critics with their daring approach to music.

Propan and Stina Stjern present a slow, patient unfolding of a dark, psychedelic and somewhat disturbing landscape. It tells of food being made, raw materials being prepared, juices dripping, hands getting dirty, skin getting wet. The layers and sounds unfold as an intense and enveloping landscape, where one can sense the looks and smells, the contours and wrinkles.

The album is a result of Propan’s project ‘Dream Nights’ – a four-day festival with live concerts and collaborations at Goldie in Oslo, in the fall of 2024.
