Not Normal
Modærn Qualitet

Om utgivelsen

Not Normal is a work composed by trombonist and composer Emil Bø, originally commissioned by Oslo Jazz Festival for their 2024 festival. Bø took the impressive band into Øra Studio in Trondheim and re-worked the compositions into a unique album experience, with a line-up of brilliant musicians – each with their own unique sound.

Not Normal is inspired by how the world looks today, how our perception of it has changed during these last years, focusing on how it seems as if everybody is self isolating and exist in our own vacuums – only receiving the impressions we choose to.

The compositions Bø adds to this experience attempts to illustrate different conflicts and absurdities we meet in society today. What are we shown? How do we handle what’s out of the ordinary, and what happens when things that are not normal becomes the new normal?
