Hypnopomp is an energetic and free jazz-rock quintet, that has emerged from the strong jazz departments in Trondheim and Oslo. The band is a mix of five great young musicians with a common love for experimental music, where genre mixing is one of the key components of their music. Their deep appreciation for somber and heavy doom riffs in combination with a traditional free-jazz sound, takes the listeners into the darkness of mankind. Although inspired by anything from past or present wars, to dark folklores and creepy nightmares, you clearly hear elements from Frank Zappa, Messiaen and the Norwegian doom and stoner scene. The nightmare theme is reflected in the bands name «Hypnopomp», which is a phase in the sleep cycle where one may experience some rough audible and visual hallucinations.
Their debut album «GLÅM» will be released the 1st of November 2024, and before this they will release the two singles «Korkmannen» (7th June) and «Sardonic Smiles» (13th September).
