Ah, Les Vaches! is the 12th Bushman’s Revenge album. The title means Ah, the cows, which supposedly were the dying words of the great composer, eccentric, and all around hero to the band, Erik Satie.
The band started out in 2003, and made their first record 20 years ago. So yeah, it’s been a minute! So what’s new? Well, they have a new member, the one and only Tor Egil Kreken – bass player, session ace, and all ’round musician extraordinaire.
«The three of us entered the new Amper Tone studios in Oslo, in August 2025, along with engineer Bård Ingebrigtsen. We just played some music, and shared a lot of laughs, basically. And then we were lucky enough to have Gard’s friend, the great Johan Lindström, added some pedal steel to a few of the tracks later on. What kind of musical direction this time? Well, we’ve been all over the place, and back again several times already, through the years. This time we wanted to explore more of a «pop» direction. That is «pop» with a massive disclaimer. There’s perhaps a little more emphasis on shorter songs, simpler melodies, and «poppy» rhythms, and slightly less of the rock and the free jazz influences this time. We even do a cover of Stina Nordenstam’s cover of Purple Rain! But never the less, it’s still very much a Bushman’s Revenge album, as weird as ever. We’re also old farts by this point, who have no idea what the kids are into. So take the «pop» with a massive truckload of salt!
The songs were mainly inspired by an assortment of friends, pets and other critters – living or otherwise. And we hope you’ll take them for a spin, and in your own time, maybe even clap, sing or dance along to this ungodly racket! Please enjoy!»
