Simen Kiil Halvorsens Scripted Conversations
A Collection Of Compositions Reflecting A Year In Life

Om utgivelsen

«A Collection of Compositions Reflecting A Year In Life» is the second album from Simen Kiil Halvorsen’s Scripted Conversations. Their first album «Scripted Conversations» (AMP Music&Records, 2016), received brilliant reviews in Norway and abroad. The band was established in 2015 as a result of Halvorsen receiving the Mølster Award at The MaiJazz Festival and with this, got the opportunity to gather his «dream band». The musicians are picked from the top shelf and among the members you’ll find musicians from bands and projects such as GURLS, Hanna Paulsberg Concept, Skadedyr, Moskus and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.

Halvorsen is an established name on the Norwegian jazz scene and in addition to this project he has two releases with the project Past Present; «Short Pieces» (Hevhetia, 2018) in collaboration with Andrew D’Angelo and the guests Jim Black, Pete Rende and Elias Stemmeseder, and also the release «Eternal Return» (Jazzland Recordings, 2019) in collaboration with live sampler Tortusa (John Derek Bishop).

«A Collection of Compositions Reflecting A Year In Life» consists of short, precisely composed pieces, open, improvised stretches and longer compositions as a framework for organic interplay and playful improvisation. The music was written through one year (2017/2018) and portrays the composer’s life, with its ups and downs. The listener is invited to participate in a few romantic relations, a serious ear surgery and several existential and artistic questions. As always in this project, the compositions are clear and defines different moods and landscapes, but at the same time the musicians are invited to bring their colours to the music and give it the full meaning.
