Sanskriti Shrestha (1990) is an Oslo based Nepalese tabla player who is known for the bands like Bugge Wesseltofts new conception of jazz, Moksha, Avatar and Bansal band. She has been touring across Europe, Asia and Australia with ensembles spanning a large diversity of musical genres. Shrestha brings her Nepalese/Indian/Asian musical background in merge with jazz, electronics and other styles of contemporary music. She is working to promote the tabla tradition and bringing it to the modern stage to be recognized as a versatile instrument with rich possibilities. Coming from a family of music professionals, she has been sustaining the tradition she is brought up with and has developed an innovative style of solo performance and collaboration. Since her teenage, she has continuously been expanding her vocabulary in tablas and promoting it into vogue as a special and important musical instrument in the scene of music today.
